Recently we were called out to help survey and repair the leak at the Piney Point Facility. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection says that a leak was detected in the liner of the largest reservoir on the Piney Point facility, containing approximately 480 million gallons of wastewater.
That prompted an emergency order allowing the facility to pump water from the reservoir into Tampa Bay. As of Saturday, officials were pumping about 32 million gallons a day out of Piney Point, through the Port of Manatee and into Tampa Bay.
Once the levels were at a point that we could begin surveying we worked over night to find the leak and repair it.
